Recount Cross Country
Cross Country recount by Harriett Neame
In the morning when I woke up I felt nervous. I jumped out of bed to get dressed into my uniform.
When I got to school I felt even more nervous than when I got dressed.
At lunch it was really scary because the race was so close. When we were warming up it was so nerve wracking. We got to the starting line, it was so close to start.
The banger went bang, we all started running. When I got to the hay bales I was way behind. When I jumped over the hurdles I leaped over them like gazelle.
At the tyres I thought I was going to fall over. Near the bridge a teacher was cheering me on I felt so good..
Where the adults were standing I saw my Mum and Mrs Harnett, I felt even better because the finish line was just up ahead. I was surprised that I came 9th.
I found my Mum and ran over to her, I told her that i came 9th. After that I ran as fast as I could. ( Which was not very fast) to get my drink bottle, I was so thirsty that I almost drank it all. My legs were so tired I could hardly walk.
I felt so good when i crossed the finish line because I completed the cross country running all the way.

Cross Country recounts
Here are a couple of amazing descriptive recounts from two students in S4.
Cross Country by Ella Jess
When I woke up I felt like I didn't want to go to school.
When I got to school right when school started I was super tired. i was scared that I would lose and be called a slow coach and silly.
So first I lined up in the 7 year old girls. When it was time we started with warm ups, star jumps, jogging on the spot and breathing.
After that we lined up and bam! We started running. I was a bit slow, but still in the top three. The next person nearly bet me, it was very scary.
After that the hay bales slowed me down and 15 people past me and I was running as fast as I could. Then I past 5 more, how I was puffed. I got 10th in line, after that I past 3 more people because they knocked down the hurdles and went back to pick them up. Now I was 7th in line and just past the bridge.
Next netball courts, I ran so fast now so nobody could pass me. It was a bit annoying because a teacher took a photo right in the face! I hated it.
After that my eyes started hurting and I slowed down. it was okay because lots of people were puffed. Then I went faster and crossed the finish line and I fell over because I was so exhausted.
My number on my hand was 17th, I was very happy because I had finished the race running all the way.
After I got a drink and played on the skate park for 10 minutes. i went home with my Mum and went to Dudley to celebrate the cross country by having a swim.

Swimming Lessons
S4 are becoming very confident in the water. The students are all able to stream line on their fronts blowing bubbles. Many of them can float on their backs and a small group can do a length of freestyle back stroke and breast stroke.
